Orientation March 21, 2026
We’ll be hosting an orientation on March 21, 2026 from 1-3PM. If you haven’t fired with us before we strongly encourage you to come to the orientation to learn the basics. We will cover:
- an overview of the woodfiring processs
- what clays, glazes and slips to use
- how to properly wad your pottery
- what is unique about wood firing
- examples of wood fired pieces
- woodfiring safety
- what to wear
- what equipment to bring
- team building focus
- kiln loading, what results to expect from different parts of the kiln
- wood preparation
- what can go wrong
- cleanup procedures
We will provide you with a few lbs of clay and some dry wadding materials to take home. The cost is $25. Sign up below if you want to participate.
